Exercise Science is a multi-disciplinary program that applies scientific knowledge from anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, psychology, motor control, and biomechanics to understand how the human body functions during physical activity, and how the body adapts to exercise training. The Exercise Science program prepares students to acquire skills in fitness evaluation, exercise program design, and instructing functional movement patterns. Graduates will be ready to join the workforce as exercise physiologists, strength and conditioning specialists, and/or wellness coordinators who design and implement safe and effective exercise programs for a wide range of individuals. Graduates are also ideally prepared to pursue graduate education in a wide range of allied health science careers.
All internal transfers must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 to be eligible for acceptance into the Exercise Science major.

The Exercise Science Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree at Montclair State University is an excellent starting point for many career options. The following recommendations are intended as a general guide for students interested in some of the specific careers listed here:

Majors interested in medical and other health related fields (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician associate, nursing, etc.) are encouraged to join the Pre-Medical Program.
